STACEY Attard has been looking forward to the summer months, although they will make her job much busier.
The Brimbank City Council employee works as a pool lifeguard at the St Albans Leisure Centre.
During last week’s hot spell, when temperatures soared above 30 degrees, many residents sought relief in the centre’s pools.
“There has been a considerable increase in the amount of people coming to the centre over the past few days, especially considering that school is still in progress,” Ms Attard said.
“The patrons that have been able to make it down to our centre have definitely been enjoying our outdoor pool facilities, particularly the diving pool.”
Ms Attard’s daily tasks at the leisure centre include assisting and supporting the swimming and group fitness instructors.
“This summer I am most looking forward to enjoying the amazing atmosphere that the hot weather brings to our centre, it allows me to meet a diverse range of people,” she said.
“I was a new employee of the centre during last year’s summer, and I can’t wait to spend this exciting time with all the friends that I have made over the past year.
“I am also able to be a part of the recovery process for many of the patrons who use our centre to aid their rehabilitation, many of them have been seeing great results lately and it is truly amazing to see the smiles on their faces almost every single day.”
