Keeping kids in school

By Charlene Gatt
TWO of Melbourne’s biggest identities are joining forces in a fund-raiser to help youth.
Father Bob Maguire and Les Twentyman are hosting the Keep Kids in School for Another Year gala dinner and ball this Thursday.
The gala, which is supported by Freemasons Victoria, has been organised to raise money to assist the pair in their efforts to keep disadvantaged kids in school for as long as possible.
Statistics show that early school leavers are at greater risk of employment and social exclusion, leading to lifelong disadvantage.
“The foundation takes it upon itself to arrange further schooling to disadvantaged students at various learning institutions in the Melbourne area. They provide funding to children with high aspirations but socio-economic handicaps,” Father Bob said.
The gala dinner will be held at the Peninsula Shed 14 Central Pier, 161 Harbour Esplanade. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at www.20thman.com.au
