Street spray

YOUTH organisation Street Smart is looking for young artists to join them in an exciting new project.
The program, which works with Hobsons Bay and Wyndham youth to provide them a safe, supportive and legal environment to express themselves through graffiti/street style art, is looking for young people between the ages of 15 and 25 who are interested in street art and spray painting to join in on their workshops.
“We have some very exciting projects happening this year,” said organiser Katherine Dine.
“Including the Portawall project and the 500 Cans Project.
“Portawall sees our young artists create a giant puzzle wall which will be exhibited at the new Wood Street Art Space at the end of the year.”
Ms Dine said the 500 Cans Project involved groups of young artists painting three prominent walls in the suburb of Laverton.
“Each year we offer exciting opportunities for young artists to express themselves in a safe and creative environment.”
“We welcome ideas from young people for new projects for years to come.”
Every year Street Smart also holds an annual auction, exhibiting the works of their many young promising artists.
Workshops are held every second Saturday afternoon at the Wood Street Arts Space.
