Home invasion

By NATALIE GALLENTI

POLICE are calling for anyone with information on an attempted burglary in Melton to come forward.
The incident occurred on 10 April this year when occupants of a residential property on Hawthorn Avenue, Melton West, were woken by two males who had broken in through the rear window of the home.
Detective Senior Sergeant Barry Jenks said one offender was brandishing a long arm firearm, while the other was holding a crowbar. The pair stole a small amount of cash.
Det Sen Sgt Jenks said the victims were not harmed and have offered police a description of the offenders saying one was of solid build with dirty teeth, while the other was thin with dark hair, wearing buttoned-up thick winter coat jacket.
Anyone with information should contact Melton CIU or Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.

Stalking offences
A SYDENHAM resident was charged with stalking after police were called to a Hillside address on Thursday, 18 July.
The 28-year-old man was found inside the property and was known to the occupants but did not have permission to be inside.
The offender was also arrested on Warrants of Apprehension for failing to appear at court in relation to other criminal charges.

Arson suspected
IN a separate incident last Thursday, CFA units attended an abandoned house on fire at Holden Rd, Plumpton. The house was extensively damaged and police believe the cause of the fire is suspicious. It is being investigated by Melton CIU.

Vandals, thefts
THE former Mowbray College site on Stevenson Crescent, Caroline Springs, was the target of vandals earlier this month when a group of unknown offenders smashed 12 separate windows.
Police believe the incident occurred in the last two months and are calling on witnesses to contact them.
And as a result of a surge in vehicle related thefts an additional five police members have begun working with Melton CIU solely to investigate these crimes.
