TWO, four, six, eight, no prizes for guessing what sport Mackenzie Campey appreciates.
The young Caroline Springs resident loves nothing better than doing cartwheel after cartwheel around the family home, so what better way to show off her skills than grabbing a couple of pom poms and strutting her stuff as a cheerleader?
Mackenzie first joined Cheer Central in Caroline Springs two years ago and has never looked back.
Now in Grade 1 at Parkwood Green Primary School, she is well versed in all her routines and told Star she never gets nervous before a performance.
“I never get nervous now, but I did when I was a bit younger,” the seven-year-old said.
Describing the sport as “fun”, Mackenzie said she enjoyed tumbling and stunting during her routines and also enjoys learning dance skills.
She said the sport required hours of practice and training to first learn the techniques and then remember them, but she is prepared for the hard work and has her sights set high.
“I want to continue and get really good so I can compete in competitions.”
