WITH the festive season well and truly upon us, Melton City residents are being encouraged to donate non-perishable food items and toys to be placed under the Melton Visitor Information Centre Christmas tree and distributed to disadvantaged families across the municipality.

“Christmas is all about giving. There are many people in our community who are doing it tough, and this appeal is locals helping locals when they need it most,” Melton Mayor Kathy Majdlik said.

Combined Churches Foodbank and Melton City Council’s family services unit will distribute the goods.

This year, the Christmas theme for Melton VIC is ‘things to do and places to go with your visiting friends and relatives in the City of Melton’.

Residents are invited to join the council staff and volunteers to add to the Christmas tree with a photo of their favourite things to do with friends and family in Melton.
