A world of young talent

The Newcastle Youth Orchestra - bringing The Places You'll Go to the Glasshouse.

SOME of the most talented young musicians in the country will be taking to the stage at the Glasshouse in Port Macquarie.
The Newcastle Youth Orchestra will be performing at 2pm on Saturday 28 June, presenting The Places You’ll Go as part of the Kids Classics concert series.
The one-hour performance will explore music across the globe with giant puppetry and a narrator while featuring young Celtic fiddlers Pumpkin Juice.
The 50-piece orchestra will play well-known classical pieces by composers such as Brahms, Copland, and Saint-Saens.
The Newcastle Youth Orchestra practices every Saturday from 10am-1pm at Newcastle Museum under the direction of principal conductor Jack Machin. Members are all aged 14-25 and all from the Hunter region.
Last year, its first year, the orchestra presented a season of four successful concerts and four chamber music concerts and members were astounded by the overwhelming support from the public with close to full houses at the three theatres and almost 2000 people at the outdoor finale along Newcastle Harbour in December 2013.
Tickets are 10 a child, $20 concession, $25 adult.
