Musical program to hit new high

DINJERRA Primary School will be able to boost its music program with a cheque for $2000 that was given to the school by the Rotary Club of Footscray last Thursday.
About 22 students from grades five and six played provided an instrumental accompanment to Rotaraians who sang the national anthem.
School principal Debbie Starpins said the money would be used to form an African cultural music curriculum for their elective music group.
“We plan to tap into the different African groups in the area and ask them to visit and give workshops,” she said.
She said that if funds remained the school would purchase more instruments for use by all students.
She said the students enjoyed performing at the Rotary Club meeting.
Students also played at the school’s weekend community festival and Braybrook’s Big Day Out.
