Rabbit control program to start

BRIMBANK City Council’s rabbit control program for 2014 has begun this week and will continue until Friday 28 March.
The rabbit control program will take place at Taylors Valley Parklands in Keilor, Sydenham Park in Keilor North, McNabb’s Weir in Keilor, Burrowye Calley Reserve in Keilor, Green Gully Reserve in Keilor Downs, Lightwood Gully Reserve in Keilor Downs, More Park in Ardeer, Buckingham Reserve Escarpment in Sunshine West, Somerville Rd Escarpment in Sunshine West and Tower St Escarpment in Ardeer.
All the areas will be clearly sign-posted, and the poison being used will be Pindone on carrots and Pindone on oats.
There is an antidote for the poison, vitamin K1 available at all vet clinics.
The council has warned unrestrained pets may be at risk if they eat poisoned rabbits.
Contractors will inspect the areas daily to remove the dead rabbits.
