MELTON Police are dumbfounded by hoon behaviour throughout the municipality as the number of cars impounded each week continues to rise.
It comes after another horrific week on Melton roads, which included a fatal head-on collision took the life of a 55-year-old female on Taylors Rd, Plumpton.
The Sunshine woman was a passenger in a Subaru sedan which veered into the path of an oncoming vehicle on Monday, 29 October.
She died at the scene, while the driver and two other passengers in the Subaru were injured and conveyed to hospital. A child passenger in the other vehicle was also injured.
The Major Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene, and investigations are continuing. Anyone who witnessed the collision or observed the silver 1998 Subaru Impreza sedan prior to the collision is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Meanwhile, an 18-year-old Melton man will be charged on summons to attend Bacchus Marsh Magistrates Court after he was clocked doing 128km/h in an 80km zone on High St. The offender, who has never held a driver’s licence or Learner Permit, had also been disqualified from obtaining a licence for 12 months as a result of a pursuit he was involved in with Melton Highway Patrol in July this year.
Melton Senior Leading Constable Allan Edwards said the male would be charged with other offences including using an unregistered vehicle, attaching incorrect number plates to the vehicle, and possession of a prohibited weapon.
An 18-year-old male from Melton, who had held a Probationary licence for just three weeks, had his Holden sedan impounded on Tuesday, 31 October, after he was observed doing burnouts in Cooper St, Melton South.
Police will also be cracking down on speeding motorists on Gourlay Rd, Caroline Springs after several vehicles were impounded in the past month.
Senior Leading Constable Edwards said Melton Highway Patrol will be enforcing the 40km speed limit as motorists continue to disregard road rules.
