THE racing action returns to Werribee this Sunday with the annual Kids Day Out.
Fresh from the success of the Werribee Cup, the special event will be a family friendly day at the races, with badge making, face painting and sporting events just some of the children’s activities available on course.
Punters will be greeted with an eight race card, with the first expected to take place around midday.
Werribee Racing Club executive chef Sean Cummings said the club was preparing for another big day.
“We want the same level of service and the same standards to flow through with the Kids Day Out from the product that we put out from the Werribee Cup,” he said.
“I think at the Werribee Cup, when you had a look at the crowd, there were a lot of families at the course.
“That has started a really good foundation moving forward.”
General admission tickets and dining packages for the day can be purchased by contacting the Werribee Racing Club.
Cummings said the club is looking forward to a big summer of racing events.
“Country Racing Victoria has set up the Kids Day Out initiative and they are big supporters of that and the plans for the year for Werribee Racing Club,” he said.
“We know that this area is very strong in terms of families and we want to become an iconic venue not just from the racing perspective but also with the function centre.”
