A new Star is born

SIX new newspapers will soon be launched across Melbourne’s North West following a merger between Star News Group’s North West Division and Metro Media Publishing, publishers of the Weekly.
The new titles will combine the best of both newspapers under one masthead, to be known as Star Weekly.
The new papers will have a combined circulation of more than 320,000 – giving advertisers unprecedented opportunities across the western and northern suburbs of Melbourne.
With a strong focus on local news coverage, the new Star Weekly titles will be distributed throughout Wyndham, Hobsons Bay and Maribyrnong, Brimbank, Melton, Sunbury, Macedon and throughout the northern suburbs.
Star News Group’s Managing Director Paul Thomas said the merger would result in significant benefits for readers and advertisers.
“Star and MMP titles will be the best title in each marketplace and will provide a compelling story to advertisers,” Mr Thomas said.
“Star Weekly will continue to provide our readers with the best local news coverage. This merger will further cement our place as the preferred paper for local news, retail advertising, classifieds and real estate.
“We are looking forward to launching our new Star Weekly editions in May.”
