MELTON was buzzing on Saturday as thousands of residents enjoyed the colour and fun of the Djerriwarrh Festival.

This year’s festival celebrated 150 years of local government in Melton and kicked off with a street parade showcasing key moments in the town’s history.

Onlookers were treated to live entertainment throughout the day and the ever-popular Lions Club Carnival.

Other highlights included the Melton Small Business Expo, activities and workshops for children and young people, market stalls and the Get Active Expo, which demonstrated local sporting and recreation clubs.

Melton City Council chief executive Kelvin Tori said the event was always a highpoint in the community calendar and would not be possible without the support and commitment of the Djerriwarrh Festival Advisory Committee and a range of sponsors. 89880
